Founded in 1987 by the late Claire Danielson, PhD. Boughton Place preserves and maintains the original psychodrama stage built in 1936 by Jacob Moreno, originator of the psychodrama, sociodrama, and sociometry methods. Dismantled and moved to Boughton Place from it's original location in Beacon, NY, Boughton Place is long recognized as a vital symbol for the international psychodrama community, and has been hosting psychodrama immersion programs for over thirty years. Boughton Place is named after Dr. Smith A. Boughton (nicknamed "Big Thunder" for his oratorical skills), leader of the anti-rent movement. Dr. Boughton along with other leaders of the anti-renters & the New York State Legislature resolved the dispute by passing land reform laws which ended the manor system.
The stage serves as the perfect platform for performance arts - theater, music, dance, poetry, recitals, focus groups, workshops, trainings, retreats, meetings, celebrations, rituals, study circles, book clubs, and so much more!
